Entry to Agasthyarkoodam peak and its surrounding areas is restricted by Kerala Forests and Wildlife Department. A controlled and defined trek provided by the Forest department is accessible only during the trekking period defined by the Government from time to time. The tickets can be booked only by a registered applicant. The trekking team will depart from Bonacaud Forest station at 8 am, to reach the base camp at Athirumala, 16 Km into the forest, by evening. The steep 8 Km climb to Agasthyarkoodam will begin early morning the next day and the travelers will be able to return to the base station by afternoon. Slow trekkers can stay at the base camp for another night before returning to Bonacaud. Trekkers are prohibited from bringing/consuming, alcohol, cigarettes, and any type of cooking inside the forest. Performinritualype of pooja rituals are also not allowed inside the forest.

This service falls under Permit and Passes group and hence is available only for registered applicants.

Who can Apply
  • This service is intended for applicants above the age of 14 years.

How to Access the Service?
  • Register yourself as an applicant (if not already registered).
  • Click on Apply for Service or Login
  • Enter the User Name, Password, and Captcha code given and click on Submit.
  • Once logged in, on the left menu click on Apply for services and then click on View services
  • Click on 'Apply'

Note: In case payment is deducted from your bank account and the Entry Pass is not sued, before reapplying, please check for your application under Revalidate Payment Section. If available, click on the Application Reference Number for revalidation. The revalidation should be done within 5 minutes.


Service Specific Terms and Conditions
  1. Entry Pass is non-transferable and no modification/ alteration is allowed.
  2. Once the Entry Pass is issued no partial/full cancellation is allowed.
  3. Amount once paid will not be refunded once the ticket/entry pass is issued.
  4. The Original photo ID (mentioned in the ticket at the time of booking) will be verified by a concerned official before commencing the trekking on each day. Entry will be allowed only after successful verification.
  5. If the ticket is not issued and the amount is deducted from the bank account, there shall be no responsibility of the Kerala Forest Department.
  6. All unsuccessful transactions shall be refunded by the bank in 14 working days from the date of payment.
  7. While availing the online ticket booking facility, Kerala Forest Department or National Informatics Centre will not be responsible or will not take any liability of whatsoever nature in respect of any loss or damage arising directly or indirectly to you due to the declining of transaction based on any of the following reasons:
    • Lack of authorization
    • Exceeding the preset limit mutually agreed upon by you and your bank
    • Any payment-related issues arising while doing the transaction
    • Internet connectivity issues
    • Client system/browser-related issues
    • Any other reason not listed above.
  8. Consumption of Alcohol, Smoking, and cooking is strictly prohibited in the forest area.
  9. The participants must abide by the rules and regulations of the Kerala Forest and Wild Life Department and all instructions issued by the Forest staff and guides.
  10. Kerala Forest and Wildlife Department can initiate action against the trekkers, in case of violation of any instructions during the trekking program.
  11. The participants must be fully aware of the risk involved in the trekking program including attacks from wild animals and health problems that may develop during trekking.
